Sliema is a town located on the northeast coast of Malta. It is a centre for shopping, restaurants and café life. Tas-Sliema is also a major commercial and residential area and houses several quality hotels. Tas-Sliema, which means ‘peace, comfort’, was once a quiet fishing village on the peninsula across Marsamxett Harbour from Valletta. Now Sliema and the coastline up to neighbouring St. Julian’s constitutes Malta’s main coastal resort; as a result, Sliema has been ringed with modern apartment blocks.

St Julians – Paceville

Paceville, St Julians, is a fun night-life area riddled with bars and nightclubs which practically stand door-to-door, with music often starting at 7pm until late. It attracts Maltese residents and numerous foreigners alike. The visitors range from businesspersons on short trips, to the languages students who make up a fair portion of the population and who multiply in numbers and residency from May through September. This is first and foremost a place for having fun, letting loose, dancing and socialising until the early morning hours. One can enjoy a variety of different music, ranging from the laid back beats a cocktail bar to Rock’n’Roll at Cafes in Bay Street Mall, to Hip Hop and R n’ B at Havana in Paceville’s heart. There is certainly something for everyone here, but it tends to get very busy and exciting during the weekends so may not suit the faint of heart.
